Corporate Finance Salaries in Mexico 2026: What Does Our Salary Guide Reveal?

Digitalization, nearshoring, and artificial intelligence are transforming Corporate Finance in Mexico. How are these changes affecting salaries and talent needs? How Much Do Corporate Finance Professionals Earn in Mexico?

Corporate Finance salaries in Mexico vary significantly depending on the position, level of responsibility, and complexity of each organization.

According to our guide, a CFO can earn between MXN 250,000 and MXN 420,000 in gross monthly salary, while an FP&A Director typically falls within a range of MXN 170,000 to MXN 250,000.

However, these ranges do not necessarily represent the upper end of the market. In our experience, we have seen higher compensation levels at large multinational companies, particularly in positions where complex responsibilities and specialized expertise make qualified professionals difficult to find.

Differences are also significant across managerial and specialized positions. For example, a Plant Controller can earn between MXN 95,000 and MXN 160,000 per month, while an Accounting Manager falls within a range of MXN 80,000 to MXN 110,000.

Here are some of the salary ranges identified in the study:

Position Gross Monthly Base Salary (MXN)
CFO $250,000–$420,000
FP&A Director $170,000–$250,000
Plant Controller $95,000–$160,000
Accounting Manager $80,000–$110,000
Treasury Manager $70,000–$110,000

These ranges are general market benchmarks and may vary depending on the industry, geographic location, and specific characteristics of each organization.

But for companies, understanding the cost of hiring a finance professional is only part of the equation. It is equally important to understand how difficult that talent may be to find and the challenges involved in retaining it.

Which Corporate Finance Functions Have the Highest Employee Turnover in Mexico?

FP&A has the highest turnover rate among the eight functions analyzed, at 14.86%, followed by SSC/GBS at 12.32% and Tax at 10.36%.

In contrast, Accounting has a turnover rate of 7.25%, while Controlling stands at 7.26%, according to data collected by Morgan Philips.

Typical turnover rates by finance function

Finance Function Turnover Rate
FP&A 14.86%
SSC / GBS 12.32%
Tax 10.36%
Internal Audit 8.89%
Treasury 8.68%
Finance Leadership 7.89%
Controlling 7.26%
Accounting 7.25%

The difference is significant: FP&A's turnover rate is approximately twice that of Accounting.

Employee turnover can be influenced by several factors, and the study's data do not establish a specific cause. However, these rates do more than compare talent movement across functions. They also provide a benchmark for identifying where companies may need to review their talent attraction and retention strategies.

In functions with higher turnover, is compensation still competitive? Are there clear opportunities for career growth? Do teams have appropriate development and retention plans?

The answers will depend on each organization's circumstances. What matters is recognizing that retention needs are not necessarily the same across all finance functions.

Which Finance Roles Are the Hardest to Fill in Mexico?

Hiring difficulty is not determined by salary alone. The indicators in our guide show that certain positions present greater recruitment challenges, particularly when they require a specific combination of experience, technical expertise, and business responsibilities.

Within Finance Leadership, positions such as CFO and Regional Finance Director show high levels of hiring difficulty. Similar challenges can be found in certain FP&A, Controlling, and SSC/GBS roles.

Although these functions are different, they share a common challenge: finding professionals whose experience matches the specific needs of each operation.

A Plant Controller, for example, needs to understand production costs, operational variances, and the financial performance of a manufacturing facility. Accounting expertise alone is not enough. The professional must also understand how plant-level decisions affect financial results.

A similar situation applies to FP&A. An FP&A Manager must oversee budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis while working closely with functions such as Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain to support business decisions.

That is why, when hiring finance talent, defining the scope of a position accurately is just as important as offering a competitive salary.

A candidate may have the right technical experience and still not meet the company's specific needs. Understanding that distinction from the beginning helps organizations develop more targeted recruitment processes.

What Skills Do Corporate Finance Professionals Need?

The responsibilities outlined in our guide show that different finance functions require capabilities that go beyond preparing reports or following established processes. Beyond technical expertise, personality traits also provide valuable insights into the characteristics of finance professionals.

In FP&A, for example, financial analysis is closely connected to business planning. Professionals need to interpret results, develop forecasts, and understand how decisions made across other functions affect organizational performance. Among the profiles assessed through AssessFirst, traits such as assertiveness, a collaborative approach, and curiosity stand out. These can be valuable in a function that combines analysis with interaction across different teams.

In Controlling, operational knowledge is particularly important. A Plant Controller works with production costs, budgets, and manufacturing variances, making it essential to connect financial information with what is happening on the plant floor. In this function, AssessFirst identifies traits such as autonomy, attention to detail, and objectivity, which relate to the precision and sound judgment these responsibilities require.

In SSC/GBS, leadership positions involve responsibilities related to operational efficiency, automation, performance monitoring, and the coordination of financial processes across different entities or countries. Traits identified in this function include organizational skills, assertiveness, and strong observational skills, which can support effective process and team management.

Although each function requires different expertise and personal characteristics, they share one important element: the need to combine financial capabilities with an understanding of the business and the specific responsibilities of each role.

This has implications for recruitment and talent development. Beyond assessing technical experience, companies can use assessment tools to better understand how professionals work, how they interact with other teams, and which characteristics may support their performance in a particular environment.

The goal is not to look for the same profile across every function, but to recognize the combination of knowledge, experience, and personal characteristics each finance function requires.

What Do Salary and Hiring Trends Reveal About Finance Talent in Mexico?

The findings of the 2026 Salary Guide show that the finance talent market does not face the same challenges across every function.

Salary differences reflect varying levels of responsibility and specialization. Turnover rates show that employee movement differs across functions. Hiring difficulty indicators help identify positions that may require more targeted recruitment strategies.

For CFOs, Finance Directors, and HR leaders, these findings provide an opportunity to review how they make decisions about compensation, hiring, and talent development.

Do salary ranges reflect the current responsibilities of each position? Which roles may be more difficult to fill? Which functions require greater attention to talent retention?

Answering these questions requires understanding the characteristics of each function and how they relate to business needs.

Because two positions can offer similar compensation while presenting completely different hiring challenges.

Understanding these differences allows companies to make talent decisions that go beyond salary comparisons.
