Role Overview
Asset managers are professionals responsible for managing property portfolios on behalf of private or corporate clients. They generally report to the company's investment director or asset management department. The Asset Manager's role is to achieve asset value objectives using efficient rental, technical and financial management. In this way, they help to maximise the value of a property.
After several years' experience, an asset manager may be promoted to head of an investment department within a property company, become an institutional investor or head up an investment department with a marketer. In the long term, a career move to the property management of a major owner is also a possibility.
There are plenty of job opportunities for Asset Managers because the property sector is still recruiting. Candidates have access to well-paid jobs in real estate companies, estate agencies or management companies.
To work as an Asset Manager, you need a Master's degree (Bac +5). Asset managers need a solid grounding in financial analysis, negotiation and property law, as well as an in-depth knowledge of the regulations in force.
