Main Responsibilities
As Director of Information Systems, the Chief Information Officer manages and optimises the company's information systems. This includes computers and other hardware, software, the network, servers, data storage systems, printing equipment, telecoms systems and so on. It ensures the security and availability of data and applications. They understand the challenges faced by each department and propose appropriate solutions.
With their sound technical knowledge of IT and their familiarity with new technologies, Chief Information Officers are able to assess requirements in terms of digital tools and software. Keeping a daily watch on new technologies and companies in their sector, they are able to identify those that can ensure an optimal, competitive and innovative strategy. The Chief Information Officer is capable of understanding and implementing complex software solutions and evaluating the various technological options available on the market.
He is also a great leader: he manages all the IT teams and also deals with external service providers. He puts in place innovative project management processes with new digital solutions. He monitors digital budgets and is capable of accurately announcing deadlines for the various IT projects. As such, they play a key role in the company's overall strategy: they are often part of general management and/or the board of directors.
