Main Responsibilities

The Product Manager is responsible for defining the long-term strategy for a product within a technology company and deciding how best to develop it. To do this, he or she analyses the problems encountered by product users, based on information provided by the marketing department.

The Product Manager works closely with the design, development, marketing and sales teams to ensure the success of the product in a competitive market. He takes into account the technical feasibility and constraints of the project. He or she also identifies areas for product improvement and plans the process for future enhancements.

This manager coordinates all the teams closely or remotely involved in the development of the product. He or she ensures effective communication between the stakeholders to guarantee the successful completion of the project.

  • Knowledge of tech concepts: Product Managers spend most of their time working with the tech team rather than the marketing team. Understanding the technical terms (API, back end, CMS, data driven, etc.) used in product development is therefore essential in this job.
  • Mastery of the Agile approach: this is one of the key skills in product development project management. It offers greater flexibility in achieving the objective and puts user needs at the centre of attention.
  • Knowledge of product management: ensuring the success of the products developed is the very essence of the product manager's job. This professional must be able to meet the objectives set by the company, develop clear strategies and measure product performance.
