Finance Manager 

Role Overview

The Finance Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of an organization, ensuring accurate reporting, effective budgeting, and compliance with regulations.

Acting as a key link between accounting operations and business strategy, they provide financial insights that support operational and strategic decisions.

Reporting typically to the Finance Director or CFO, the Finance Manager supervises a team of accountants or analysts and plays a crucial role in financial planning, analysis, and control.

Main Responsibilities

The Finance Manager ensures that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported in a timely manner. They are responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, managing cash flow, monitoring budgets, and analyzing financial variances.

They support departmental budget holders, identify risks and savings opportunities, and contribute to the forecasting and planning process.

They also oversee internal controls, support audit activities, and ensure that tax and regulatory filings are submitted correctly and on time. The Finance Manager leads a small finance team, helping to streamline processes and implement best practices.

  • Variance Analysis: Identifies gaps between expected and actual results to drive operational efficiency.
  • Cash Flow Management: Maintains liquidity and anticipates funding needs to support business continuity.
  • ERP & Financial Software: Facilitates automation, tracking, and reporting of financial data (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Sage).

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, ACCA are often preferred
  • 5–8 years of experience in financial roles, including experience in team management
