Main Responsibilities
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe and functional working environment so that employees can operate efficiently. They ensure that production equipment is kept in good working order. To do this, he or she has a maintenance team that he or she manages and supervises. He/She ensures that each member has the necessary skills and tools to carry out their tasks. He/She is also responsible for managing the schedules of his subordinates, and occasionally takes part in the recruitment process for technicians joining his group.
In addition, the Maintenance Manager develops strategies to optimise the use of the company's equipment while minimising maintenance costs. He or she schedules preventive technical maintenance to avoid costly downtime, and carries out regular inspections to detect early signs of potential problems.
The Maintenance Manager assesses the company's manpower requirements. This involves examining existing equipment and studying the feasibility of new equipment. Depending on the results, he or she may recommend the purchase or upgrade of existing production equipment. He/She establishes relations with the company's suppliers and manages the budget allocated to maintenance.
