Job Description - NLP Engineer

Role Overview

NLP Engineers develop language understanding and generation capabilities for search, dialogue, content, knowledge and automation products.

The role combines machine learning, linguistics, data engineering and product understanding.

Alternative Job Titles

Develop NLP models for classification, extraction, retrieval, summarisation, translation or dialogue.

Build training datasets, annotation guidelines and evaluation benchmarks for language tasks.

Fine-tune or adapt LLMs, embeddings and retrieval systems for industry-specific scenarios.

Optimise model accuracy, latency, safety and cost in production environments.

Hard-skills

Proficient in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow and transformer-based NLP models.
Experience with tokenisation, embeddings, vector databases, RAG and model evaluation.

Education & Training

Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, AI, Linguistics, Computational Linguistics or related fields.
Research or engineering experience in NLP or LLM projects is preferred.
