Job Description - Prompt Engineer

Role Overview

Prompt Engineers design, test and optimise instructions that guide generative AI systems to produce useful, safe and consistent outputs.

This role is especially relevant for knowledge assistants, customer service bots, content automation and internal productivity tools.

Alternative Job Titles

Design prompt templates, system instructions, examples and guardrails for LLM applications.

Create evaluation datasets and test outputs across scenarios, languages and edge cases.

Collaborate with product, domain experts and engineers to improve response quality.

Document prompt patterns, known limitations and optimisation recommendations.

Hard-skills

Strong understanding of LLM behaviour, prompt patterns, RAG and evaluation methods.
Excellent writing ability in target languages and awareness of tone, context and ambiguity.

Education & Training

Bachelor’s degree or above in Linguistics, Communications, Computer Science, Data Science or related fields.
Experience in content strategy, UX writing, AI evaluation or chatbot design is preferred.
