Role Overview
Web designers are professionals who specialise in designing websites and optimising the user experience on the Internet. Their main task is to design the graphic and visual interface of websites. They use their skills in graphic design, typography, page layout and visual design to create interfaces, images, animations and graphic elements that enhance the user experience.
Web designers work closely with a multidisciplinary team within the company. They are supervised by a project manager or art director and work alongside web developers, marketing managers and content specialists. Web designers must be proficient in programming languages and graphic design tools such as Photoshop or Illustrator. They must also be able to handle different types of project, such as e-commerce sites, institutional sites and event sites.
In addition to their technical skills, web designers must be good communicators and work as part of a team, understanding customers' needs and expectations and translating them into design terms. They must be able to cope with pressure and meet project deadlines.
